Community Calendar

We are hosting 2 upcoming informative neighborhood Happy Hours!
 
Our goal is both to get residents together for a fun community gathering and to communicate a bit about the work that is being done to help preserve our natural habitats. These will be Thursdays September 5th & 19th. Both will feature Kent Werlin as our guest presenter. We are fortunate to have Kent, a wetland scientist and overall ecologist extraordinaire keeping an eye on the natural systems at Mountainside Village. These will be opportunities for him to share his observations with you and perhaps for you to share some of your observations with Kent and our community.  
 
Aquatic Systems of Mountainside Village
Thursday September 5th, 5:30 at the Mountainside Village Pond Common area.  
Refreshments & Snacks Provided. 
 
Our pond and the new creek are entirely man made. They are naturalizing nicely to form our beloved local aquatic system. Kent & his colleagues at Biota have been monitoring water quality at the pond. The results will be shared along with discussion of ongoing efforts to keep our water clean and aquatic system healthy.  
 
Natural Resources of the Hillside and Meadows of Mountainside Village
Thursday September 19th, 5:30 at the Mountainside Village Pavilion. (where the mailboxes are) Refreshments & Snacks Provided. 
Biota did the first Natural Resources Inventory in 2001. Kent led the recent 4 year effort to update our Natural Resource Analysis and Mountainside Village Wildlife Habitat Management Plan. With the development of the hillside area in MsV Phase 5 that Management Plan will become an important guiding document.  
This will be an opportunity to share key insights from the study and action items of the Plan. 
 
We hope to see you there.  If able, please let us know if you expect to join us so we have some idea of a headcount for snacks & drinks. Additionally, please bring your own folding chairs. We will have a short happy hour starting at 5:30pm, and Kent will start his presentation shortly after that.
